Round Table:
Expectations and Motivation regarding KS 6

Taking up an impulse from the workshop on Critical Whiteness, we began the afternoon with a "visual check-in". One of the participants had asked the group to bring "examples of works by well-known and/or unknown artists, touching upon the subject of discrimination, racism, flight, sexism" as print-outs in order to start the meeting relaxed and communicatively with a 'gallery tour' (...) as well as to use the art as a starting point.“

The exercise led to a controversial discussion about the representation of black people in the pictures the participants had brought with them, as the pictures reproduced discriminatory stereotypes. This situation highlighted the emerging incompatibility of certain positions within the group and the need to develop a common respectful level of language.

The rest of the afternoon was devoted to the exchange and collection of questions about the expectations, wishes and fears of the participants with regard to further education program. The aim of this review was to locate oneself in the individual and collective sense, to make oneself aware of the motives for participating in KontextSchule and to disclose these to others. One participant got us started with this process through a Schreibgespräch, a writing meditation and mindfulness exercise. In addition to looking at our own needs, the focus was also on our ideas about each other and ultimately on bringing together the imagined and concrete resources of the group. Finally, the participants visually recorded expectations, wishes and fears with the method Strukturlegung (putting cue cards with concepts on them in a specific order as agreed by the group) in order to be able to fall back on it in the course of further cooperation.
