Open Space 1, 2, 3 & 4:
Presentation of one’s own practice

Within Open Spaces, the participants had the opportunity to show their colleagues their own practice and thus identify common areas of interest and potential team partners. One of the participants introduced us to possible forms of cooperation with an artistic-educative warm-up: The task was to create a drawing in pairs without using words to communicate. Another warm-up exercise, led by a participant, consisted of being blindfolded and haptically perceiving and imagining everyday objects before guessing what they are.

The presented practices differed as well as the chosen forms of presentation: A teacher structured her input as a teaching situation in which we reviewed images together. Another activated the group by having them work in pairs, going through various phases of a lesson in just 15 minutes. Presenting her website, one artist made the interlocking of artistic practice with her biography comprehensible, while another gave the group an impression of her work with a spoken word performance. Another artist shared her practice with us through a self-curated audio recording that ranged seamlessly from experimental music to her own songs and radio podcasts. Another artist provided insights into his multimedia work in the form of performance/theater, video and poetry. In addition, two contributors (working together as colleagues in the same art space) organized an informal setting with a picnic [es gibt einen Tippfehler in der deutschen Version → Picknick] to exchange artistic-educative practices, methods and discourses. Finally, a teacher presented her (concept of) drama lessons that she offers at her school and in other contexts with young people.

The process of forming our group kept us busy: some presentations raised questions about forms of collaborations and about diverging expectations of the participants about the further education program and its objectives.
